Sam Ward’s Farm

When Sam Ward built his house on West Ossipee Road, now Rte 41, the B&M Railroad was his only neighbor. A man of little formal education, Sam had a profound influence on the poetry of E. E. Cummings. The poem “rain or hail” was written to honor Sam Ward.
